ARTIST STATEMENT

For almost ten years I get regularly the question „Why did you choose sexuality as the main topic of your creativity? Do you want to provoke?“ I don’t have a proper answer. But definitely, I see a deep connection between sexuality and individual freedom, which is extremely important for me. In my work I focus on male and female roles in society, about existing stereotypes and changing those roles. Quite often I am referring to fetishism as an endless field of creativity where social hierarchy and subordination roles could be played in another way. I try not to criticize, but in a playful and joyful way show an alternative sex-positive world where gender stereotypes don’t have value anymore, where sexuality lives free and colorful, where each sexual practice, which is based on safety and consent of all participants, isn’t seen like a perversion by society.

I am constantly making sketches and drawings with watercolor or ink, while my main medium is textile. From 2013 on, I have been interested in silicone as a material for sculptures, alternative sex-toys and paintings. From 2016 on I have been making queer videos with my partner Coco Schwarz.
