Barbara Eitel

Moments when differing worlds of ideas converge are at the focus of my artistic interest. The attraction of such encounters lies in the certainty that they will always produce something unexpected, something that enhances the world, as soon as they come into contact with one another.
I concern myself with visual worlds from various cultural contexts and interweave them in my cut drawings to create an autonomous pictorial space. When a concrete space is available to me, its existence and context provide the starting material for the new work. I use the floor like an additional wall for exhibiting, which is discrete but simultaneously part of the space. In this way the place and my intervention merge and are perceived as a whole.
