Martin Naber

Using only a few elements, Martin Naber creates a depth that gives impulses to our thoughts and senses far transcending a specific meaning. His pictures rest on a philosophical base but appear emotional and of an almost physical urgency. Everything begins with the body – it is the structural root for the image selection, at once graphically strict and organic. With surgical precision, Naber dissects the components we use to create our idea of reality. The human face – a signpost of presumed individuality – meets bone, organs and skull. A person’s outer appearance is confronted by a view of the interior. Thus the space of the picture is turned into our space for thought, where we ponder the inescapable questions: what is the source of all things and how is meaning created? For the viewer, the impact of these worlds of images is inescapable.
