ARTIST STATEMENT

“Shoot naked. That means to photograph what you would never do or say. Shoot in blood. As if a single pic is so precious you can’t waste it. Shoot in exile, as if you are never going to get home again, and you have to call back every detail.” (P.T., contributing Denis Johnson)

Peter Truschner, born in 1967 in Austria, lives in Berlin since 1999. He studied Philosophy and Politics and was a short-term research assistant at the university. 
Since 2001 he publishes novels and plays and has received several scholarships and awards. His novel “Die Träumer” was nominated for “Deutscher Buchpreis” in 2007. When he was artist in residence in Istanbul in 2009, he began to work with the camera. Since 2010 he is a freelance lecturer at universities, e. g. Universität der Künste Berlin. In 2012 his photographs were shown for the first time at the group exhibition “Detail” in the Berlin gallery “rockelmann &”. In the same year he was photographer in residence at the “museum in progress” in Sri Lanka.
In 2015 his first Photo Book “Bangkok Struggle” was published by Peperoni Books and hit Top 5 on “Photo View”. In the same year he had his first solo exhibition “Bangkok Struggle” at the “Museum der Moderne Kärnten”. 
Since 2016 he has been working on his staged-photography project “Pathology A.”.
