In my graphics, I bet on experimentations with a pinch of chance. The thought process and the linocut process is a rather long and time consuming endeavor. Often in the middle of working on a print I change my mind and turn an assumed concept 180 degrees trying to confuse or impress myself. What is important to me is not necessarily what the graphic depicts, but how and with what a certain effect was obtained. I’m not afraid to destroy the whole effort to check an idea, just to learn that something did not work; but sometimes, it does work. Very quickly I get bored either with the tool I’m using, the way of cutting or applying color, making each of my works unique. Each linocut print is created in a variety of colors, combinations or tones, all to find “the one”. It might seem that the linocut is very simple but it is not. Paint is added onto a matrix and it is pressed into the paper. However, between the paper and the matrix enters a million different factors, which give almost unlimited creative possibilities. In my eyes, the linocut is a truly remarkable technique, complex and diverse with still much to discover.
