Makode Linde

Linde uses mass cultural icons which are revamped into a new historically manipulated narrative. Contemporary western ideas of paradise, safety and the “simple life” collide with history’s gruesome facts of slave trade, apartheid and oppression.

Prophets, Slaves, Sneakers and cleaning supplies resurrect into a new, black life as they are re-appropriated into Linde’s ‚blinged up‘ race-political slap-stick.
