Nelson Santos is a Portuguese conceptual designer and fashion artist.
After finishing his studies at the Superior School of Art he moved to London where he lived for 9 years. In 2015 he moved to Berlin where he now lives and works.
In his work he explores and overemphasizes the shape of the human body by manipulating materials, textures and cuts to create unique silhouettes and body shapes.
His work is a fusion of art and fashion, exploring a different side of fashion, as well as the dichotomy between the beautiful and the ugly and the aspirational desire for beauty.
As an up and coming designer, he won first place in the national award for young fashion designers in Portugal in 2006.
He has also been awarded the “The Future of Fashion Illustration”
an international competition by Fashion Capital in 2012, where he was chosen from over 100,000 entrants.
His work comes alive in installations and short films that transport the viewer to a fantasy world of unexpected and unusual beauty.
