In my work motifs and subject matter often comes from questions about language, realism, abstraction and seeing. I work almost exclusively with painting. The paintings are all based on other media. In the process of making a painting there is a translation of a photo, a drawing or a digitally generated picture to the painting. They are often self- referential, referring to the source images as something to trust/distrust. The act of painting and what painting as a medium conveys interests me. This interest stems from things that are very much inherent in the painting tradition, but that are also constantly redefined by technological advancements.
