Yosh Bott

b 1983 Cúcuta, Colombia. Lives and works in Spain.

ARTIST STATEMENT

Yosh Bott’s work is characterized by the use of diverse materials and by exploring pictorial media beyond the two-dimensional plane. With the use of sheets of glass and methacrylate, Yosh has built paintings with three-dimensional elements. The layering of the painting results in the creation of sculptural pieces. In his recent works he has explored the role of art in popular culture, referencing the use of masks and appropriating art references in order to to decontextualize cultural reality.
